Nimes, like many Provence towns, has a long history that leaves traces everywhere, and is part of Provence charm.
For la Ville de Nimes, this history goes back to Roman times - and now there are Roman ruins amid gardens.
History flowed on, past the Romans - so one sees also Hispanic influences,
from the Camargue and the Cévennes, the Languedoc and Provence, from Medieval times.
Also, there is, as in most cities, a river flowing through it.

La Ville de Nîmes, Gard - Provence Holiday Pleasure

photos of a few of the beauties of the Ville de Nimes - sunlight on the river, a bridge reflected in water, a quiet side street, a statue in a park, and - not to be missed - Roan ruins - these are a few views of the Ville de Nimes, Gard, a great place to spend some time on a Provence holiday - when you might also want to seek out a Nimes villa or gites Nimes

Nimes

In the heart of Provence, with all Provence has to offer.

It is hard to know where to start.

Perhaps with the Roman ruins, more splendid than in Orange - according to its citizens.

Or perhaps with all the fine vignobles as close as 5/6 km from downtown Nimes.
There are now the famous Costieres de Nimes and Aigues-Mortes,
along with the well known wines, Listel.

Yet close to the Mediterranean with its own special pleasures.

The Mediterranean, including La Grande Motte and Grau du Roi.

Grau du Roi. by the way, isnot only famous for its large beaches,
but as an important fisherman port center, selling catch of the day all over France and beyond.

Further, the right band of Grau du Roi is Port Camargue,
the largest marina in France for plearure boats. It has kept growing, decade after decade,
until now it is exceeding La Grande Motte.

Nimes is also only a little over an hour's drive the beautiful scenery in the
National Park du Mont Lozere. There one finds lots of"mas du midi" - country houses.

There are also old mines around Arles and wildlife in the mountains, Les Cevennes.

This is barely a beginning. Even those who live there always have more to discover.

Nimes - a place to visit, a place to stay in, a place to relax in, to explore and discover.

A river that flows peacefully.

And everywhere, places to stop, shop, dine.
